Sometimes Plaque Buildup is a Badge of Honor!
Plaque build-up is something that television commercials and dental hygienists warn us about. The dreaded appearance of the unwanted material can signal inattention, laziness or overall decay.
But today I got good news about my own professional plaque buildup. I have once again been awarded the highest level of distinction by a long-standing, highly-regarded organization: Martindale-Hubbell. Specifically, my legal peers have bestowed the “AV Preeminent” ranking—- signifying the highest possible rating for both Legal Ability and Ethical Standards.
I am pleased and humbled by this designation. This recognition is especially meaningful to me as I embark on my new solo practice. While I have received this designation for many years, it is always a welcome notice to receive. For most of my legal career I have been part of a team or larger firm. It is gratifying to be well-regarded by my colleagues on my own terms.
As with many designations I have received—- including Super Lawyer, Women in the Law—- there is an opportunity to purchase a “badge” to include on one’s website, email or office wall. Consistent with the reasons I continue to practice law, I will donate the price of the badge to an organization dedicated to providing legal assistance to those most in need: The Colorado Medical Legal Project.
Thank you to all the colleagues who inspire and share their energy and expertise. As in all professions, it takes a village. I am grateful for my fellow-villagers.
